Djibouti: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the severe implications of selling weapons to Israel, equating it to participating in the crime of genocide. Speaking at a press conference following the third ministerial review conference of the Turkish-African partnership, Fidan highlighted the increasing threat posed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, not only within the Middle East but on a global scale.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan accused Netanyahu’s administration of undermining the two-state solution and attempting to extend conflicts to areas such as Lebanon. He urged the international community to prevent Israel from violating international laws and criticized its access to arms and ammunition from other nations.
Fidan noted the importance of African nations’ participation, referencing South Africa’s legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice, which Turkey supports. He reiterated the urgent need to halt arms sales to Israel,
underscoring the moral responsibility of nations to oppose such transactions.
He also revealed that a joint letter was submitted to the United Nations on November 1, urging a global cessation of arms sales to Israel. Fidan expressed appreciation for the support from African countries and the broader international community in backing this initiative.
