Baghdad: The Popular Mobilization Forces have announced the arrest and detention of 29 individuals accused of being affiliated with and promoting the banned Baath Party. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to address security threats and maintain stability across Iraq.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrests were carried out under the supervision of the Presidency of the Popular Mobilization Authority and the Chief of Staff. These actions fall within the framework of the “deterrence arrows” operations, which are designed to combat threats, incitement, and disruptive activities throughout the Iraqi governorates. The Intelligence and Information Assistant played a crucial role in the successful execution of these operations, which were conducted in accordance with judicial orders and Article 8 of the Baath Party Ban Law No. 32 of 2016.
The Media of the Popular Mobilization Forces stated that significant criminal evidence was obtained during the operations. This evidence allegedly proves the
involvement of the accused in communicating with hostile parties to conduct subversive activities that threaten societal security and political stability in Iraq. In light of these developments, the Popular Mobilization Authority has reiterated its commitment to maintaining security and addressing threats. They have urged the public to report suspicious activities via the free hotline (481), assuring that the identity of callers will remain confidential.
