Baghdad / NINA / – The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met today, Friday, with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the capital, Athens.

A statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government, according to t “Rudaw” network, stated that during the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan region and Greece, and the developments in Iraq and the whole region were also discussed.

Barzani referred to the friendly and historical relationship that brings together the Kurdistan region and Greece, and expressed the region’s desire to push historical relations towards broader areas, especially in the investment and trade exchange sectors, and expressed his hope to see the Greek Prime Minister in the Kurdistan Region in the near future.

On the other hand, the Greek Prime Minister expressed his happiness with the visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government, describing it as the historic visit and the first of its kind in which the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region visits Greece. He also expressed his country’s readiness to strengthen bilateral relations with the Kurdistan region, noting that he will visit Iraq and the Kurdistan region soon at the head of a high-level delegation from the Greek government and investors.

The meeting also dealt with relations between the Kurdistan region and the federal government and developments in the region in general, as well as shedding light on the threats of terrorism and the war on ISIS and other files./ End
